I think it’s not really necessary to submit your blog or website to the listing because there are so many ways to get your website indexed
It would be better to submit article to directories if you want to be noticed by the search engine.

I cant comment on the exact software because I haven’t used it , but what most of them do is generate trackbacks automatically. This can get your website marked as spam so you have to be careful when using automated software for SEO.
